What to Bring on Race Day

.
Required:

Boat
Paddle
US Coast Guard approved floatation device (life jacket)
Water shoes or sneakers (flip flops don't work at all on slippery rocks in fast moving water)

Recommended:
Water, mineral water, or sports drinks in insulated, easily opened water bottle(s)
Power bars, nut mixes, fruit
Sunglasses
Cap/Hat
Sun block
Lip Balm
Quick drying clothing in layers
Rain jacket (if weather threatens)
Whistle
Cell phone (for emergency purposes in waterproof container) - Note that cell service on the river is spotty

If you need to rent a kayak to participate in the Regatta, contact Carson Williams of Riverside Rentals in Tazewell early in April. He will have the boat, paddle and life jacket available at the Start Line and, since Riverside Rentals is where the Race finishes, you simply leave the boat there when you finish the paddle.
